There is some dive theory involved prior to going into the water. It covers some basic scuba diving theory but is designed to be progressive and gives you a good grounding in understanding the dive environment, equipment and physical aspects of diving including important safety rules. There are two routes to completing the theory. The first is to complete the theory with our instructor at the dive centre. This usually takes one day and is split into five modules. The second method is to complete the theory online with PADI’s Online Training program. This is designed so that you can learn the academics at your own pace when it is convenient for you. Many people chose this option as the theory can be done in your own time when it suits and you are not ‘stuck’ in a classroom for a day. Within the online training method there are also different options available to you. From experience we find that those that complete the theory online have a far better understanding of the theory at the conclusion as they have learnt at their own pace.
We would recommend this as the best option for completing your dive theory.
In the course, you learn to use basic scuba gear, including a mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, buoyancy control device (BCD) and a tank. The equipment you wear varies, depending upon whether you’re diving in tropical, temperate or cold water.
POOL TRAINING/CONFINED WATER
When you’re fitted with your scuba equipment you can begin your pool training. Your instructor will put into practice the techniques you learned in the academics program. Your training dives will be logged and approved by your instructor before you move on to open water.
OPEN WATER TRAINING – OPEN WATER DIVES
Get ready to experience everything you’ve learned with the freedom of open water. As soon as your open water training dives are approved by your instructor you will be a certified diver. PADI Open Water Diver certification is recognized worldwide so your diving experiences will be limitless. Your certification will provide you the passport to dive anywhere in the world and remains valid for life!
