Who should try Discover Scuba Diving?
If you have ever wondered what its like to breath underwater and you want to try scuba diving but aren’t quite ready to take a certification course? Then Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) is for you. Catan Divers offers this program either in the pool or at the beach in Twin Rock Beach Resort.
This is your first introduction to the underwater world, an exciting and exhilarating sport. Interact passively with the marine environment and experience first hand the joy of the underwater world.
Whilst this is not a certification course, it is a quick and easy introduction to what it takes to explore the underwater world.
A word of warning though. Once your try this amazing sport you will be hooked and want more.
Open to anyone aged 10 years and above
No prior experience with Scuba Diving required
Need to be in reasonable physical healthy

Your Participant Guide explains the experience and lets you pre-study the safety rules and skill techniques your dive professional will review with you. You’ll also learn about opportunities to become part of the scuba community after you complete your underwater experience.
DSD Pool Session
Direct supervision and instruction from a teaching status PADI Dive Instructor (Max 4 students/Instructor)
Full set of rental dive equipment, tank and weights.
Official PADI DSD Certification Certificate.
DSD Open Water Dives (Optional Add on)
Direct supervision, instruction and dive guidance from a teaching status PADI Dive Instructor (Max 2 students/Instructor)

DSD Pool Session – About 2-3 hours
DSD Open Water Dives – About 6 hours (half day)
After completion of the DSD pool session and the first open water dives, if you want to become certified, please speak to your instructor about booking a course.
You may wish to conduct more DSD dives, which after completion of the DSD pool session can be accommodated. Please ask for details.

The DSD Pool Session must be completed with us prior to going on any open water dive(s). This includes if you have completed DSD pool sessions at other establishments.
This is where it really gets exciting. Once you have completed the DSD within the pool and find out just how easy it all is you will no doubt want to get into the open water to experience the underwater world for yourself. Your first open water dives can be conducted after the pool session, as part of a dive trip.
The DSD open water dives are conducted at two specially selected dive sites, chosen for their depth and easy dive conditions. You will be taken from Twin Rock to the boat departure point a short drive away, where you will board our dive boat and head out to offshore dive sites for two dives. This includes drinks, snacks, water and a surface interval between dive brunch/lunch. For more details of what is included please check our dive trip page.

Once you have completed the Discover Scuba Diving in confined water you can complete some dives in the open water. Under the direct supervision of a PADI dive professional you can spend the day with us experiencing the underwater world in 3D on an exciting 2 dive day trip. Take in the wonders of the underwater world at two different off shore dive sites, chosen especially for you. Maximum depth of 12 metres.
